Privacy Policy

IRL Camera Tools (“the app”) is published by Dhondooo. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and what your choices are.
The short version
- There is no account. We never ask for your name, email, phone number or payment details.
- Nothing you scan, photograph, measure or record leaves your phone. Every tool works entirely on your device.
- The app makes network requests for exactly two things: sending a crash report when it breaks, and checking whether an update is available.
- No analytics, no advertising identifier, no location, and no profile of you.
- Your scan history and settings are stored only on your device, and you can delete them at any time.
What we collect
Two things, and only these:
Crash reports
When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, it sends a diagnostic report to Sentry so the fault can be found and fixed.
- What it contains: the error and its stack trace, the app version, your device model and operating system version, and which update the app was running.
- What it deliberately does not contain: no screenshot and no view hierarchy — both are switched off in the app’s configuration. That matters here, because the screen is usually a live camera preview, and a crash report must never carry a picture of whatever you were pointing the camera at. It also excludes your IP address, any device identifier, the app’s own log output, and any photo, scan, measurement or recording.
- Not linked to you: there is no account, so there is nothing for a report to be attached to. We cannot tell which reports came from the same person.
- Why: so a crash gets fixed rather than going unnoticed. The app has no other way of telling us it broke.
- Retention: 90 days, Sentry’s default.
Update checks
The app asks Expo’s update service whether a newer version of its code is available, and downloads it if so. This is how a bug can be fixed without waiting for an app store review.
- What it sends: the app version, platform, and which build and update it is currently running — the minimum needed to answer “is there something newer for this build?”
- What it does not send: nothing about you, and nothing you have scanned, photographed or measured.
- You can check manually under Settings → Check for Updates.
Beyond those two, everything the app does happens on your device. The rest of this page explains what it does on your phone with the permissions it asks for, because that is what most people actually want to know.
What stays on your device
Camera
The QR Scanner, Barcode Scanner, Text Scanner, Colour Picker, Document Scanner, Magnifier, Mirror, Flashlight and Ruler all show a live camera preview. Frames are processed on your device as they arrive and are not recorded.
The Colour Picker and Document Scanner capture a still photo when you tap. It is written to the app’s own private storage on your device so it can be displayed, cropped and sampled. It is never uploaded, and it is removed when you clear the app’s storage or uninstall it. The app does not request access to your photo library and cannot see your existing photos.
Text recognition
The Text Scanner reads text using Google’s ML Kit text recognition model, which is bundled inside the app and runs entirely offline. No image and no recognised text is sent to Google or to us.
Microphone
The Sound Meter is the only feature that uses the microphone, and only while you have it running. It reads the input level to display a decibel figure.
To expose that level, the operating system’s audio API writes a temporary recording file into the app’s private storage while a measurement is in progress. It is never uploaded, never played back, and is not used for anything other than metering. Recording stops when you tap Stop or leave the screen; the file is removed when you clear the app’s storage or uninstall it. No other tool uses the microphone.
Motion sensors
The Level, Compass, Protractor and Pitch & Roll tools read the accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer in real time. Those readings drive the on-screen display and are not stored.
Scan history and settings
Results you save, plus your preferences and theme choice, are stored in the app’s private storage on your device. They are not backed up to us and not synced anywhere by us.
You can delete them by clearing history in the app, clearing the app’s data in your device settings, or uninstalling the app.
Clipboard
Tapping Copy writes that value to your clipboard. The app never reads your clipboard.
What we do not collect
The app does not collect or transmit your location, contacts, photo library, advertising identifier, device identifiers, browsing history, or any usage analytics. It contains no analytics SDK and no advertising SDK. Nothing you scan, photograph, measure or record is ever transmitted — the only outbound data is described under “What we collect” above.
About the permissions you may see
- Camera — required by the nine camera tools listed above.
- Microphone — required by the Sound Meter only.
- Motion & orientation — required by the four sensor tools.
- Vibration — haptic feedback, which you can turn off in Settings.
- Internet — used only to send a crash report and to check for updates. No tool needs a connection, and every one of them works fully offline.
You can refuse or later revoke any of these in your device settings. Tools that need a permission you have declined will explain what they need rather than silently failing, and the rest of the app keeps working.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13. Since it collects nothing, it collects nothing from them either.
Service providers
- Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.) — receives crash reports. Data is processed in the EU. See Sentry’s privacy policy.
- Expo (650 Industries, Inc.) — serves over-the-air updates and receives the update checks described above.
- Apple and Google — distribute the app and give us aggregate download statistics we cannot connect to any individual.
- Cloudflare — serves this page.
Your rights
We hold no account and no profile, so there is nothing identifiable to export or correct. Crash reports are not linked to you, which also means we cannot pick yours out to delete on request — they expire on their own after 90 days.
Everything else the app stores is on your device and under your control: clear the app’s data or uninstall it and it is gone. If you have a question about any of this, email us.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app. If the app starts collecting anything beyond what is described here, this page will say so before that version ships.
